"Abandoned Memories" was written and recorded in late summer/early autumn of 2023 and sees myself returning to my more introspective reflective improvised style of ambient music with perhaps a hint of Neo classical?

The first piece written was "Remember to Forget" and In recent years I seem to have developed an interest/fascination in music composed around a foundation of sustained drones. Although "Remember to Forget" opens with a simple atmospheric chord progression it was the pulsing/bouncing like synth that was essentially the starting point of the track. The piano part was composed over these two elements along with the haunting breathing like voice synth.

The title track was born from a sustained drone that has some shifts in amplitude & frequency, I sat and improvised some keys for a while with a couple of different passes, one in particular resonated with me and I then made some edits to it fixing where I was either a little too hard on key velocity or too low and also fixing any notes that felt a little out of time in some places, some passes have slightly different nuances in notes and FX etc to keep a natural feel.

The addition of some recent field recordings and additional subtle synth accompaniment assisted the lengthy improvised passages and aided the long form arrangement of this piece which I hope works as an emotive yet comforting place to immerse yourself in.

The middle piece "Reconcile" is the shorter of the two but applies a slightly different approach, an initial improvised synth pad acts as the main foundation with some simple but emotive high key counterpoints, a subtle minimalist ambient piece that creates a different yet coherent mood.
