about

Footsteps in Fog was created shortly after the passing of the American minimalist composer Harold Budd in December 2020. Harold's music was a huge influence on myself and so many others, his music touched the soul and stirred the senses with his less is more and improvisational approach where every note, sustain & silence played an equal part in creating a haunting stillness which was deeply poignant and emotive.

Harold's unique compositions like many of the greats will continue to resonate with music lovers in years to come.

While "Footsteps In The Fog" is certainly inspired by Harold's legacy I also see it as a reflection on the year that was 2020 and is dedicated to the other great artists that left us this year and also for anyone that found 2020 a personally challenging one.

Originally the track was a five minute piece, on the 22nd of December I returned to it and added additional sonic elements and rearranged and mixed it into what is now just over nine minutes.

I hope you enjoy it.
