"Senescence" was born from a recent beautiful autumn day.

This year the changing colour of the leaves has been a little slower than usual, perhaps due to a milder September & October. As I walked in my local park a week ago I was surprised by a lot of wild flowers still blooming yet a lonely fallen leaf was on the narrow pathway, I took a picture, the striking colours against the aged and broken path inspired me.

Later that day I was compelled to play some keys, I improvised for about five minutes or so using the Native instruments "Maverick" Piano instrument.
I added some subtle delays and FX and subtlety layered a Rhodes at an octave higher to add a little more tonal depth. Over the next few hours I added various analogue synth sounds some musical & others that ended up sounding like leaves spinning as they fall to the ground and others appeared to almost emulate bird song.

Further improvised piano were added as the piece progressed, adding bass tones and higher twinkling keys. A mix of Moog, Prophet & MS20 sounds in various ways finished off the track.

I hope what you hear in this piece can evoke a sense of calm & wonder and emotions that the autumn months can bring.
