Glyn Morton Love the long form ambient tracks Mick. This is superb

mark smith This is so much better than the last two offerings from Mick Chillage. It's very different vibe with a liquid feel to it - constantly changing and evolving. A CD (double?) release would tick all my boxes. Favorite track: E.I.M. (Beat-less Mix).

CA This album is really great! And I really like to hear the background story. So many nice structures from only one synthesizer!

David Kellett Beautiful sounds unfolding vaporously. Soft eddies and swells that maintain a calm, deep, deep, peaceful vibe. There are echos from the history of ambient music but this album, like Mick’s other work, remains unique.

I too like the background notes. It’s always an added dimension to a release. I really want to know what gear the artist used to create the work and the story/ stories that inspired it. Favorite track: E.I.M. (Beat-less Mix).

about

E.I.M.(Experiments In Mono) was created in late jan 2020.

My goal was to experiment with just one Mono synth, in this case
The Korg MS20 Mini, Korg's reproduction of the classic mono synth from the late 70's, famously used by just about everyone.

Playing around with various patching and front panel editing I would improvise on the keys, some parts musical and others very experimental. Once happy with each part I would then record into Ableton and eventually built it up to seven different audio parts stemming form just the MS20, each part is of different durations, causing some interesting evolving movements, rather than endless repeating 8 or 16 bar structures that are omni present in much of todays strictly structured electronic music.

The twin oscillators and the parallel High Pass and Low Pass filter with their own independent modulation controls, the MS20 sound can result in some very organic sounding tones. One element, sounds to me perhaps like the ghost of a jazz saxophonist jamming with the wild ring modulations while someone else plays a retro glitching Japanese computer game in a water filled cavern while a haunting synth lead joins in to add some further mystery.

However you the listener will interpret this cocktail of analogue sound and digital FX etc is up to you, but I do hope that it conveys something that can keep your attention and stirs something in your imagination for the almost one hour of its duration.
