"A Soul Like Winter" was created in the first week of January 2023.
After a period of no music production thanks to Covid and its residual effects I had not worked on any music in almost one month, so I was delighted to start working again with a fresh perspective & enthusiasm.

The main track was inspired initially by a patch I had created sometime back on my trusty Prophet Rev2, a little bit of further editing lead me to some deep drone like chords and some long takes with many different parameters being tweaked to create a dark shifting atmospheric undertone.

Next was some subtle yet emotive improvised piano keys, and a little bit of searching through my archive of found sounds/field recordings led me to some elements that complimented the sonic foundations.

Within these sounds I began to imagine a sort of icy industrial environment and could envision a frozen landscape with distant machines clonking away, this inspired me further and managed to focus on a theme of a soulless industrial structure working away on its own without the aid of humanity.
